History: The Rose in the Wild began with song and dance on the deck of a Persian merchant ship named Abal (arabic for wild rose). The ship’s wives and female crew members actively illuminated the Abal with grace and cheer, by entertaining the crew and guest travelers. Eventually, the Ladies of the Abal began performing in the town squares, markets, taverns and theaters of port cities. Traveling over the Indian ocean, Atlantic ocean, Arabian, Red, and Mediterranean seas, the Abal became a melting pot of sailors from the Middle East, Africa and Southern Europe.
