Description: The Guardians are a fighting company dedicated to the pursuit of honour, justice and glory. We are not the greatest fighters in Amtgard, but we do not back down from any challenge, because each new challenge is a chance to improve our skills. On the field, we fight with honour and passion. We are honourable in both victory and defeat. Members of the Guardians are also dedicated to the virtue of self-improvement. Everything the Guardians do, we do to the best of our abilities. There are five ranks within the Guardians: Apprentice Journeyman Guardian Vanguard Templar One wishing to join the Guardians must bring their request to a member of the Guardians. Once a request is made, two conditions must be met. The first is a consensus among members. And secondly, a member with the rank of Guardian must agree to take on the prospective member as an apprentice. If these two conditions are met, the prospective member will be granted the rank of Apprentice. They will be entitled to wear a belt favour with the company heraldry. This apprenticeship will last no less than four weeks, during which the apprentice will strive to improve both their martial and scientific skills under the guidance of the chosen member. Once the apprentice has completed his training to the satisfaction of senior members, he or she will be promoted to the rank of Journeyman. At that time, they will be presented with a tabard bearing the heraldry of the Guardians. Journeymen are expected to continue their efforts to improve their martial and crafting skills on their own. At least one piece of equipment must be submitted for evaluation. Quality is important, but emphasis is placed on effort and desire to improve. Once a Journeyman has shown themselves to the satisfaction of the company, they will be promoted to full-fledged Guardian. It is expected that a Guardian will continue to improve themselves, but will no longer be subject to evaluations. At this point, a Guardian is also eligible to take on an apprentice. The Vanguard is the second-in-command of the company. Their primary function is to act as leader of the company in the absence of the Templar. The Vanguard is also responsible for assisting the Templar in making decisions regarding membership and other company matters. The Templar is the leader of the Guardians. The Templar is responsible for leading the company as well as making all final decisions regarding company business. Members of the Guardians are all expected to act in accordance with the code of the company. Members are expected to act in an honourable fashion both on and off the field. In keeping with the tradition of self-improvement, members are expected to enter local tournaments and crown qualifications as often as is reasonably possible. But the most important virtue of any Guardian, or perspective Guardian, is to do everything with passion, heart and to the best of one’s ability.
