Description: http://crypticonseattle.com/\r\n\r\nCypticon is a Gothic cultural expo, horror film fest and convention. Its a wild and exciting event made from many artists and groups. (part of a chain)\r\n\r\nA core group of local players has earned the title of staff and are allowed our own crews of volunteers. We are gearing up to run our 3rd annual demonstration at the event, we are also expanding and hosting a Battle game for new players (fans at the event) we also are building an amtgard booth, this is a display of our weapons, armor and other A&S as well as an official place for all amtgarders at the event to hang out and to talk about the game with new people (fans at the event)\r\n\r\nWe select our volunteers and additional players to participate in the demo, and we are responsible for them at the event. \r\n\r\nPeople can pledge... this means your interested in the event or just want to support amtgard crossover -great- we have chances as con staff to select volunteers to go to other events and man our booth or table *WE are always allowed to bring Amtgard info and hand that out as well as long as we are doing at least 50/50 so one person talks amtgard the other the event
History: In 2010 one of our own made an impression on the owners of a convention and with a year of work was made staff, in 2011 the group was unofficially formed and join the con as volunteers who by the end of the weekend we promoted to staff as well (nearly unheard of the con is very selective about who has that title as it is in effect being on the BOD and in most cases they bring in new volunteers of their own.) In 2012 additional volunteers came and some were also promoted to staff, giving the group a very solid standing in the event. In 2013 we have many things planned including the official creation of an amtgard house - The con has given staff as individuals resources to be used in amtgard: Soda for gate at Rosewood 2011, Embroidered patches the following year 2012 for event favors and the candy bags at the Mask and the large box as a door prize 2012. The establishment of this house is to maintain the relationship between amtgard and the event in order to continue to have demo's and other cross promotions for our group there. Through us artists from our group can get showcased at the event and resources from the con can be given to other events in our group. I would be rude for some player to request free stuff from any event or business --- request donations as an NPO is a very political and requires a great deal of care it is best left to the people in charge. We do not ask for favors, we work with the con towards their goals, they allow us to participate in their event and give some support in return for our help. They do not have identical awards or a rotating leadership the way we do, they are a family, a family that has adopted US as members, we are honored but we are also protective as we too care for them as people and enjoy this event. As the event grows (and its cross over with other events does with it) more oppertunities for volunteering come open including doing more demo's or even hosting a cross over event at amtgard. The con promotes groups and events, it asks volunteers and staff to come out in support of these activities. It is not far fetched for them to ask us to host a LARGE number of visitors to our game on a regular amtgard day. Our job, is to be ready, to help our players find places in the event to shine (such as entering the writing, film or sewing contests)
