Description: Our fighting company name is based off of Gaius Julius Caesar IV's famous Tenth Legion. Historically the legion was used in Caesar's Gallic War & The Roman Civil War. The Legion helped win the day at Alesia [~50,000 Romans sandwiched between 80,000 & 250,000 Gallic armies.], and also at Pharsalus [Facing numerically superior forces, almost triple, and against Pompey the Great, Rome's other military genius of the time]. To make things short, our fighting company basically does the same thing, except without the large numbers. We make our headquarters in the Mistic Lowlands [Cherokee, IA], a Freehold. We do encourage membership in other shires so if you are interested contact me [Kaen] via e-mail and I can send you our Constitution and the To-Know sheet. You will be given the rank of Praefectus Castrorum, basically you watch over our "military camps on foreign soil". A description of the rank is found in our constitution. AND REMEMBER THE MOTTO: Quantum materiæ materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari?
History: The Xth Legion idea was formulated by Kaen Nexcis of the Mistic Lowlands, and it officially came together in late May 2006. Originally the Xth Legion was composed of and governed by three members, who made up a Triumvirate [Kaen Nexcis, Nyarlathotep, and Rehlyimah]. The group was trying to keep small at the time and were not allowing other players to join. Even with three members the team was a force to be reckoned with. In early June 2006 Rehlyimah split from the Xth Legion and moved to Querna Tema [OMAHA, NE], which left the 'Triumvirate' in tatters. The remaining two members than began a search for a replacement to recement the alliance. In the end of June 2006, Glim became the official replacement of Rehlyimah. The Legion once more stood strong. In early July 2006 Kaen pushed through reforms of the Legion and took sole leadership at the head of the Legion. Glim and Nyarlathotep took on the titles of Legatus Legionis, or assistant generals. In the middle of that month three other members were accepted into the Legion: Caed, Laneacea, and Kibmic. They were inducted to give the Xth Legion a solid edge over the Order of the Dragon, the Legion's rival company. Laneacea became the Aquilifer, or Eagle Bearer, of the Legion. Caed and Kibmic fought a heated battle for the rank of Primus Pilus, the Centurion, in which Caed won. Kibmic was then submitted into the ranks as a Legionary, still highly respected. Another member, Teng, was inducted the following week as the Praefectus Castrorum of [Insert his new shire here].
